An investment

There's a lot of things that I need want to invest in, but climbing to the top of the list is a sailor hat:

In's & Out's No. 2

I haven't done one of these in a while, and as I find this to be one of my safe havens, why not take the time to list it out. Here we go:
Photos courtesy of Tumblr
In's

- Having enough closet space in my new room! This needs no explanation.
- Honey & Oatmeal leave-in conditioner by Catwalk for Tigi! I have damaged ends because I've dyed my hair and it's definitely helping it. It smells awesome and is worth the investment.
- Washed Out and Explosions in the Sky - check them out if you haven't heard them yet!
- Fall is coming and I can start wearing more things like this:

Out's

- Changing my schedule more than once. It's my last year at school and the last thing I want to be doing is going from one one end of the school to the other every class for six hours.
- Not having fluid internet/cable yet...so soon, but my patience has run thin.
- My plain ass room! I haven't done anything to it yet, it has no character and that needs to change.
- Insecurities.

& I leave you with something to ease your worries, just click the play button:

bloo.blew.blue.

I'm blue...not in the sense of being upset or sad, more like overcome by the addiction to the color. If we were talking about a color being reflective of my mood, it would be mixture of yellow and a bold orange.

I don't know why I had such an aversion to the color blue before, it wasn't a favorite or a hated one, it just wasn't gravitating to me or my eyes. Alas, everything in that color family of hues has made me fall in love with what it has to offer.

It's been a while - but I always feel like I say something along these lines. Life has been fast-forwarding rapidly (when is it not?). This summer I went to the UK & New York, took 6 credit hours and loved everyone I got to see. I'm back at school in a new apartment as a senior in college. Call me cliche but 'm at one of the biggest cross-roads in life. What to do when I really take a step into the real world? Happiness is key.

Friday Favorite: Model Mania

It's fair to say that I've been mildly obsessing over a couple of things this past month, but one that is consistent is models. Not just any model, though...my favorites have been pushing the boundaries of what society thinks is beautiful. I think that these women are eccentric and have such powerful features that make them stand out (in my eyes). I know that there is not much racial variation (or gender), obviously, but I've been on the hunt for a new batch of models for the next posts to come :)

unusual you

When I lay down at night I can't help but think of what's happening now. The way my heart palpitates, my uneven breathing, the shadows cast by the door against the mirror, the heat seeping through the crack of the window I forgot to close again. When I wake up in the afternoon I can't even think. Am I really just laying there not taking in anything? Naturally I just get up and go to the restroom then back to bed. When my mind clears up I think about how quickly the day is going to end. It was a constant pattern for quite some time, but once I started to run again that's where everything gets clear. Even though there are hundreds of visual distractions, my headphones blazing to the loudest they can, sweat dripping down my back, the sudden shin splits that creep up on me- there it is. I run and almost forget that I'm running because all my mind can concentrate on are my hopes, dreams, aspirations and I see them unfold. I see exactly where I want to be, doing what I crave to do. I see my success.
This isn't about the literal act of running, this is about me suppressing my abilities by staying stagnant for so long. I wasn't born to sleep on opportunities, I was born to charge after what I want.

My first: In's & Out's

I realized that I love it when other blogger post their what's 'In' and what's 'Out' for them, so I decided to do a short little one while I wait for my photos to upload onto Facebook!
IN:

- Curling my hair! I've been on a continuos hair-curling role and I love it because it gives me a clean, polished, look even if the rest of me is looking like a hot mess.

- Totes! They're so handy and fit so much in there (because I love to pack in 'just-in-case' materials). Plus, I bought so many in the UK...I gotta' put good use to those suckers.

- Chicago summer: beaches, downtown, good friends, and late night rendezvous

- Drinking tea. Oh yeah, I said it!

- Being happy...need I say more?

OUT:

- Online summer courses. I really don't understand why they exist.

- Looking at my card statements and seeing how much money I've spent. It hurts...especially when high exchange rates are involved.

- Worrying about my life in 2 years. To move, or not to move...that is the question?

soft

I'm back!...well, kind of. I've been catching up on TONS of sleep to the point where it's annoying me. Currently I'm in the process of adding my UK trip pictures onto Facebook (Scotland ones are up, now to sort through York and London). I have a mini-picture-haul coming up of things I bought in the UK- I swear, they have the best places to shop! Especially the markets during the weekend, I could spend all day there and not get bored or uninspired.
In other news, Chicago weather has been up and down but I was able to catch some rays at the beach and hit downtown to meet my favorite person, ever! :) But my lack of imagination in my wardrobe choices lets me stay at home and read, read, read. I had to update this blog for the sake of myself, so this weekend I went out with my family and decided to shoot a little OOTD. It's really simple and casual. Let me say right now, I am probably in the worst shape ever* of my human career so I had to opt for a flow-y blouse. (*gonna go on a run right after this goes up) It's not extremely baggy and doesn't look like a potato sack (a lot of 'oversized' shirts tend to look like that). Paired it with my new leopard print wedges I recently got...I love them so much! I was able to walk around the mall with them, all day. I'm so addicted to high heels/wedges lately.

And I leave you with that. My blog will be back and running in a regularly scheduled manner by later this week.
