OOTD | Lady Danger

Today was one of those days where I wanted to wear all black again  but I decided to add a pop of color...to my lips. I've been living in the color "Lady Danger" lipstick that my sister got me for Christmas. It's the perfect mix of red and orange. In another news, definitely missing London, so I decided to add some british flare by wearing my Doc Martens with frilly socks. Also missing consistent weather; was so happy that I wore my chunky knit infinity scarf because it was cold and started to snow out of nowhere!  Hoping everyone had a proactive and happy Monday - remember, do what you love and surround yourself with people that make you happy!

Obsession: 'High Fashion' High Top Sneakers

Whoever thought that fashion and style could not be comfortable were wrong. The sudden boom of high top trainers (as some call it) had me thinking twice, at first. This trend had me praying that we, as a society, wouldn't relive the tragic moments of the "sneaker heel" that happened some odd years ago.  But as a couple of months have passed, this trend has grown incredibly fast on me. As a short girl, I appreciate some height in my shoe and I was only able to find that in...well, you guessed it...heels. I love a cute pair of sneakers and Isabel Marant has hit the spot with the Willow shoe; such a popular pair of sneakers that it sold out in about 24 hours, some claim! These have been spotted on Miranda Kerr, Alicia Keys, Julianne Moore, Anne Hathaway and even Beyonce was rocking out a similar version of the shoe in her video for 'Love On Top'. Other designers such as Marc Jacobs, Ash, and Margiela have their own rendition of this shoe style. It's safe to say, though, that Isabel Marant has won over my heart and I want some Willow in my life! This hidden heel has me head over heels!

A Little Monday Magic

It's been a while since the last blog post, but it's safe to say that I've been enjoying my time (relaxing, doing school work, some more DIY projects, cheering on the Superbowl champs) but alas...back to the grind! Since it is Monday, I thought I'd share some photos that have been beautiful to look at, inspiring or a bit magical. Definitely flips my Monday "blues" around a bit and I have Tumblr to thank for it.
Enjoy!

Dolce & Gabbana Turns Up the Heat

Alert: Dolce & Gabbana's chili pepper print cropped bustier and skirt.

I spotted this dynamic piece from the Spring '12 collection in my February issues of Nylon
(p.40) and ELLE (p.100). Of course it caught my eye so I ventured off to see the rest of the collection and it did not disappoint. Sure, it's not what you would normally expect to be walking down the runway, but I admire it for the very same reason; no reservations and just all out with their imagination. I love the thick straps and form-fiting nature of the bustier and the width/flow of the skirt makes for a perfect item to walk and dance around in.Who knows if it's in any other magazines (which I'm sure it might be in), but all I know is that it's a fresh, fun and spicy print that I wish I could rock! Some may hate it, others may love it, and all I have to say is: Dolce & Gabbana, I love you.

“Food is sex, food is enjoying life, food is colour, food is positivity,” says Stefano Gabbana of a collection including chilli pepper print dresses, aubergine bra tops and garlic bulb earrings" (vogue.co.uk)

THE Hat

Hellllllllo! Let me start off by saying that it's so hard not to online shop....*phew* glad to get that loaded statement off my chest! Anywho, I've been obsessing and lusting after the perfect hat by Rag & Bone. I love this label and everything they offer, but I seriously cannot stop eyeballing this bad boy. The black floppy brim fedora goes with everything, so I decided to show you how you could wear it all 4 seasons long (Mom, if you're reading this: Look at how many uses I'd get out of it! *nudge*). I've also noticed my infatuation with the color black. I can't get out of my black clothes and it was so hard to add color for these outfits, but I tried!
So here they are, enjoy outfits and admire that beautiful hat.

Head Gear

I am a self-professed "messy hair" person. I don't like combing my hair, putting it up, curling it, flat ironing it, etc. I know this makes me sound a bit like Ke$ha, but who cares! I like the disheveled look and it cuts down my 'getting ready' time greatly. However, lately I've been on a headband kick to give my untamed hair some pizzaz. I think it's fun to rock statement head gear; definite alternative to costume jewelry. The beauty of all of this? You can make them yourselves (as simple as getting a scarf and knotting it a fresh, new, way)! Now, I buy all of mine and the cut off cap for them is $5.00, but if you're into DIY, you can get crazy cool outcomes. Don't be afraid to experiment with patterns, shapes, materials, etc. I might dip into the pool and have an attempt at making one...or a couple, but for now, here are some of my favorite pieces. Enjoy!
PS: I've been addicted to this tune, so I thought I'd share!
