You may or may not know that I recently ended a 3-day juice cleanse earlier this week. I entered the #TCMlovestory contest on The Chalkboard Mag site and won 2 sets of Pressed Juicery's 3-day cleanse (one for me and one for Lisa).
I felt so energized and great but it definitely tested my will-power and made me look internally on how I wanted to carry through a generally healthier lifestyle. Cliche, but...
I finally got around to filming another video on my YouTube channel :) I recently went on a quick extended weekend vacay to California where I stayed in Santa Monica and had fun in the sun.
Since the last time I updated I've really been having a music-filled summer - went to Pitchfork, VEVO Lift and Lollapalooza. I'd like to say that out of all the acts across different festivals/concerts, I'm still blown away that I got to see Lana Del Rey live and pretty f*ckin' close.
Now I can finally ease into really setting up my room/the rest of the apartment - decorating is hard and expensive. I've also been trying to find a good place in the apt. to shoot some quick OOTD's, and I think I found a decent lil' spot.
I threw on my cat lady dress that reminded me of my little white cat, Mila. I'm one of those people.
Good morning world! This weekend treated me well with great date nights, fall finds and most importantly...rest. I'm really starting to miss my afternoon nap in between class periods...unfortunately I can't do that at work. Womp Womp. Anyways - I got my hands on some pants that I've been wanting for quite some time now. I always wanted the Motel Rocks pair, but $90 just wasn't gonna' cut it for me. I also finally bought the "Lana" angora blend sweater! I didn't think I was going to go back to pastels for the fall, but I've proven myself wrong with this little number. The one horrible thing about it: it sheds EVERYWHERE, on EVERYTHING. I guess I'll just have to carry a lint roller with me whenever I wear it because this sweater makes me feel amazing.
I'm the type of person that gets tired of my nails after about a week, so when I find some inspiration for some new nail candy, I take it and run with it. After watching No Doubt's performance on the TCA's - yes, I watched the TCA's for this performance- a lightbulb went off when I saw the pants Gwen Stefani was wearing - they were kind of reminiscent of the artist, Keith Haring, and his black and white work. But that wasn't it...I remember a photo I spotted on Tumblr a while ago with simple patterns and there it was. I scavenged for the photo, found it and mustered up the courage to actually attempt these seemingly simple brush strokes on my nails and voila, here is my attempt at the wonder that I found online brought to light by the sickest person ever, Ms. Stefani.
Long story short: have fun with your nails - I did it free-handed, so if I can do it...anyone can!
PS: Is anyone else as excited as I am that No Doubt is making new music again?! So I'll leave you with their newest song 'Settle Down'.
I've been updating more frequently...yay! Anyways, today was one of those days where I wanted to lay in bed all day and not do anything, which caused me to run late and throw on the most random pieces together; I surprisingly liked the outcome. Who said that short people can't wear maxi skirts? With that, I was going to wear my wedges but realized I wasn't willing to run to my lecture in them. I opted for my red vans that DESTROYED the back of my ankles (Warning: Do not wear sneakers without sox!) For the first time I purposely matched my lip color to my shoes and let the rest fall into place. I've also abused the light wash denim vest I stole from my sister, thanks Priscilla! & finally wore my $3 vulgar shirt. All in all, it was a good day. Went out to eat at Seven Saints with the roomies and enjoyed the bizarrely beautiful weather.
I am a self-professed "messy hair" person. I don't like combing my hair, putting it up, curling it, flat ironing it, etc. I know this makes me sound a bit like Ke$ha, but who cares! I like the disheveled look and it cuts down my 'getting ready' time greatly. However, lately I've been on a headband kick to give my untamed hair some pizzaz. I think it's fun to rock statement head gear; definite alternative to costume jewelry. The beauty of all of this? You can make them yourselves (as simple as getting a scarf and knotting it a fresh, new, way)! Now, I buy all of mine and the cut off cap for them is $5.00, but if you're into DIY, you can get crazy cool outcomes. Don't be afraid to experiment with patterns, shapes, materials, etc. I might dip into the pool and have an attempt at making one...or a couple, but for now, here are some of my favorite pieces. Enjoy!
PS: I've been addicted to this tune, so I thought I'd share!
