My Floral Fantasy In A Stranger's Garden

Have you figured out my staple closet item yet?

My love for kimonos/cover-ups/long cardigans runs deep; it's part of the reason this blog was once called "Obsessions & Collections." There's something so easy about throwing them on and feeling complete — for me, at least.
So, when I spotted this incredible one at Marshalls while shopping with my momma, I knew it had to be mine.
Part of what sold me was the way the bold, vibrant colors popped against the solid black background. The other reason was the fit, and let me tell you: When you're a short person, the way something fits you can really change everything.
And when I decided to wear this for the first time, I already knew it had to be part of an #AllBlackEverything ensemble. But let's be real, I'm going to style/throw this over everything.
I grabbed some delicious brunch with my girlfriend, where she may or may have not gotten a bit lit off the BYOB bubbly we took with us.
How she managed to snap these photos after stuffing our faces and feeling "it" is beyond me.

I also envisioned shooting this piece at a conservatory — Lincoln Park or Garfield Park — but we spotted this magical garden on our walk back home and we couldn't resist.
It didn't even feel like I was in the city, which is really hard for me to experience since I was born and raised in Chicago. Yup, I've lived here my whole life. Maybe I need to explore more?
Thanks, random strangers for making this corner into a little oasis.
